Day 74 of Project 365: Change of perspective

Today has been a “Monday on steroids,” as a friend described it. I think the universe was off kilter today. There has been an overall melancholy mood and chaos surrounding the day. Day 72 of Project 365: Responsibility

I’m at work today. I took a shift because I needed the money. I did the responsible thing and gave up going to a couple art openings tonight, one of which I have a couple paintings in, because well, times are tough. So I’m here on another busy busy day. It’s ok though, I don’t mind. I have tomorrow off. #slider

Day 69 of Project 365: Turning 40

Yep, today is the day. Or was. It’s almost over. At least I still have my birthday week!! Had a really nice day today. Nothing too dramatic or exciting. Delivered art to a gallery in Malibu I am showing at next month. Had a lovely ride there and back along the beach. The weather was beautiful so I stopped and took a few shots. Day 68 of Project 365: CHOCOLATE!!!

Need I say more? LOL I hired my friend, coworker and master baker, Tricia, to bake a cake for my birthday. It’s a marble cake of vanilla and chocolate in memory of my grandma who was known for her amazing marble cakes. It’s too bad the internet hasn’t allowed for smell and taste. You’d die from sumptuous (David and Nicole, seeeee I can use that word in other places besides art..LOL) overload. #slider

Day 67 of Project 365: feeling sick

It’s Monday, the first day back to work after a great art filled weekend and the beginning of my birthday week. I’m getting sick. I felt it coming on while walking the halls at work. The hot then cold feeling, the sinus headache and body aches and pains. Not fun!! Sooo I’m downing orange juice, water, tylenol and motrin. That’s all I have right now. I just finished working a grueling 3 days in the Emergency Room. I have been so exhausted, I normally need a full day off to recover. That wasn’t too happen. Yesterday I had just got to work and was leaning in the passenger side of my car getting some stuff. Day 62 of Project 365: Appearances can be deceiving

I was taking a walk at work and found this sad looking bush. The flowers are hanging down and wilted. I wondered if it was the sudden shift from cold to hit that we’ve had here. A woman saw me taking a pic and said, “its an interesting plant isn’t it?” I said, “yea it looks so sad.” She said, “oh that’s how it looks. The flowers hang down like that. It’s normal. And its hallucinogenic.” I wonder what happened in its evolution to make that happen? Does it attract insects? D

Day 61 of Project 365: Comfort Food

I soooooo needed this tonight. Met my friend Nicole at Barbara’s, our residential watering hole and had a glass of wine with my usual steak dinner. They make a mean steak!! Today was one of those days. You know, you wake up and you’re irritable, indecisive, bored and impatient. You lean over to grab something and your boobs are sore. Day 60 of Project 365: My girls

When talking of “my girls,” normally people think of daughters, or best friends, or even breasts. I often refer to my mannequins turned avatars as “my girls.” Of course, I also often refer to my paintings as “my babies.” Funny how these creations become humanized through love and affection, even when they don’t take on human form. Of course, the idea of creating a work of art is often likened to ‘giving birth.’ So it makes sense. Not sure how the male artists feel about this.

Day 59 of Project 365: Finally… painting

Doing a bit of painting today. It’s the first time in a couple weeks I have been in the mood. So much going on lately that it feels good to let it all out in paint. I am working on the 2nd mannequin turned avatar “Gracie Kendal 3.0.” I still have to finish epoxying and gessoing the other 3. Have I said how much I hate prep work? #slider

My grandma was always an early riser. Waking up to do laundry, dishes and even golf when she was still playing. She waited until this early morning to leave us. My aunt, uncle and I were at her bedside holding her hands, making sure she was comfortable, saying our many thank yous for giving us a wonderful life and eventually saying good bye. Day 55 of Project 365: Walking and kats

I am not a great walker. Not right now anyway. I decided I want to be. So I signed up for the AvonWalk in Santa Barbara in September.
