Today has been a “Monday on steroids,” as a friend described it. I think the universe was off kilter today. There has been an overall melancholy mood and chaos surrounding the day.
The ER has been ‘full moon’ crazy. And yes I believe in the full moon myth. You would too if you worked in an ER.
Personally I am in a funk. Last night I messed up a small portion of paint on a mannequin, I’m stressed over money, I’m exhausted from work and fighting off getting sick. I keep forge
Today flew by. It was my day off and I don’t even remember it. I think I went to an art opening and I think I went to an art talk and maybe I went to an art meeting.
Oh and I went to The Last Bookstore… Found this little gem… I think. #slider
I’m at work today. I took a shift because I needed the money. I did the responsible thing and gave up going to a couple art openings tonight, one of which I have a couple paintings in, because well, times are tough.
So I’m here on another busy busy day. It’s ok though, I don’t mind. I have tomorrow off. #slider
Soooo I am kinda broke right now but I do have an Amazon credit card with 0% interest… LOL
Soooo I bought myself a couple birthday presents… If anyone wants to have an ART movie watching party let me know!! #slider
Yep, today is the day. Or was. It’s almost over. At least I still have my birthday week!! Had a really nice day today. Nothing too dramatic or exciting. Delivered art to a gallery in Malibu I am showing at next month. Had a lovely ride there and back along the beach. The weather was beautiful so I stopped and took a few shots. The sound of the water hitting the shore was really nice as well as the seagulls cooing over heard. Very peaceful. I went home and took a nap, which g
Need I say more? LOL
I hired my friend, coworker and master baker, Tricia, to bake a cake for my birthday. It’s a marble cake of vanilla and chocolate in memory of my grandma who was known for her amazing marble cakes.
It’s too bad the internet hasn’t allowed for smell and taste. You’d die from sumptuous (David and Nicole, seeeee I can use that word in other places besides art..LOL) overload. #slider
It’s Monday, the first day back to work after a great art filled weekend and the beginning of my birthday week. I’m getting sick. I felt it coming on while walking the halls at work. The hot then cold feeling, the sinus headache and body aches and pains. Not fun!!
Sooo I’m downing orange juice, water, tylenol and motrin. That’s all I have right now. I AM NOT GOING TO GET FOR MY BIRTHDAY!!! #slider
Yesterday, yes Sunday, the day I forgot to post a pic to my blog, was the beginning of what I am calling my birthday week. My friend Misty had a birthday week or a whole month if I remember right. I was jealous!! It was a really great day. I invited some friends to go see La Boheme the relay from a live opera that was performed a couple weeks prior, then we went to lunch at Tender Greens. You could tell by everyone’s empty plates they all loved it!! That afternoon I went int
I just finished working a grueling 3 days in the Emergency Room. I have been so exhausted, I normally need a full day off to recover. That wasn’t too happen. I hit the ground running today by going to see Art for virtually 9 hours straight. My friend Nicole and I hit the LA Art Show, then the LA Contemporary Art Fair and last the MAS: Attack @ LA Mart. I was going to try to stop by my friend Marina’s party in the middle of all this, but I was so tired and on art overload I
Yesterday I had just got to work and was leaning in the passenger side of my car getting some stuff. This truck pulled up and an older guy rolled down the window and said, “hey buddy are you leaving?” I stood up straight and looked at him and said, “no sorry.” He totally looked embarrassed and said, “Oh, lady, sorry.” There is a guy at work who every time he sees me says, “grow your hair.” He informed me yesterday that women should have longer hair than men. After 7 months of
I’m at work and had to take a break and get some air. It’s a cool crisp night after the long rain last night. I needed to come out and find peace. Peace from the craziness in the ER and peace within myself. As usual, its elusive. I took a few pics outside and none of them seemed right. Then I saw my shadow. #slider
I was taking a walk at work and found this sad looking bush. The flowers are hanging down and wilted. I wondered if it was the sudden shift from cold to hit that we’ve had here.
A woman saw me taking a pic and said, “its an interesting plant isn’t it?”
I said, “yea it looks so sad.”
She said, “oh that’s how it looks. The flowers hang down like that. It’s normal. And its hallucinogenic.” I wonder what happened in its evolution to make that happen? Does it attract insects? D
I soooooo needed this tonight. Met my friend Nicole at Barbara’s, our residential watering hole and had a glass of wine with my usual steak dinner. They make a mean steak!! Today was one of those days. You know, you wake up and you’re irritable, indecisive, bored and impatient. You lean over to grab something and your boobs are sore. A lightbulb goes off and you realize you’re pmsing! Thankfully you’re alone. #slider
When talking of “my girls,” normally people think of daughters, or best friends, or even breasts. I often refer to my mannequins turned avatars as “my girls.” Of course, I also often refer to my paintings as “my babies.” Funny how these creations become humanized through love and affection, even when they don’t take on human form. Of course, the idea of creating a work of art is often likened to ‘giving birth.’ So it makes sense. Not sure how the male artists feel about this.
Doing a bit of painting today. It’s the first time in a couple weeks I have been in the mood. So much going on lately that it feels good to let it all out in paint. I am working on the 2nd mannequin turned avatar “Gracie Kendal 3.0.” I still have to finish epoxying and gessoing the other 3. Have I said how much I hate prep work? #slider
Spent the day looking at art. Photo LA, Bergamont Station and Chinatown. I was able to be the passenger so took my own photos and played with fun filter apps. I love that there is art at my fingertips!! #slider
My grandma was always an early riser. Waking up to do laundry, dishes and even golf when she was still playing. She waited until this early morning to leave us. My aunt, uncle and I were at her bedside holding her hands, making sure she was comfortable, saying our many thank yous for giving us a wonderful life and eventually saying good bye. It was very peaceful and I believe graceful. A little bit after she was gone, my aunt and uncle went outside to get some air. When they
My grandma would love this question on jeopardy. “This renaissance artist wrote his notebooks in a mirror writing style.” Heck I love this question. There was also a social media category tonight. I didn’t do so hot on that one. LOL
I’m here in her hospital room in San Diego watching Jeopardy one of her favorite shows. She used to write all the questions and answers and study them. She knows to keep her memory sharp she has to exercise it. Wise woman!!! Love you more, Grandm
I am not a great walker. Not right now anyway. I decided I want to be. So I signed up for the AvonWalk in Santa Barbara in September. It is 2 days 39 miles and sure to be a fun and fulfilling experience. I would love your support in helping raise funding for breast cancer research! I am starting with baby steps, walking a little bit every day. This morning I took a walk around the Brewery. I love it here. It was a cool crisp morning and I was able to take pictures to post on
