Face/Love is a documentary self-portrait photographic series started in 2022 and continuing to the present. Playing with different times of day and colored lighting, I wanted to see myself in a different light—literally and metaphorically. Each image becomes a fragment of self-documentation, part of my ongoing investigation into how identity is constructed, deconstructed, and rebuilt.

I believe in the importance and power of repetition to emphasize, persuade, and challenge. Seeing myself over and over again through these photographs has helped me look at myself differently—to see patterns and imperfections, to find beauty through the art of the body, and to learn acceptance. Through my art, I have faced head-on a lifelong fear of having my photo taken. I have always hated photos of myself.

In this series, I take back control by shooting selfies that show my crossed eyes, large nose, double chin, wart, wrinkles—all of it. These images refuse the diminishment that society demands from aging bodies, from women, from those who don't conform to narrow beauty standards. Each photograph becomes an act of resistance, a declaration that bodies like mine deserve to be seen, documented, and celebrated. The repetitive grid format mirrors the relentless nature of self-examination while asserting the power of intentional visibility.
