Photo/video challenge… Ce n’est pas une peinture!!! (With cash(L) prizes)

http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/LEA15/62/112/533 In September I started work on my immersive environment at LEA15 called Ce n’est as une peinture. While I am still tweaking it here and there I have had  friends show me some very cool creative photos and video they have taken. I would love to see what photos and video you take of my installation. There are so many creative/inventive people in Second Life, I want to see how you would put that to work with my art. There w
    What’s important

    What’s important

“Often I feel like so much emphasis is put on how beautiful you are, and how thin you are, and not a lot of emphasis is put on what you can do and how smart you are. I’d like to change that, change the emphasis of what’s important when looking at a woman.” —Margaret Kilgallen YES!!! My sentiments exactly!!!! THIS is what my art is about!!!!! AND I am/will continue to push for this change!!! #artwork #slider

Art and community in Los Angeles

Art and community in Los Angeles

“Whatever you can do, or dream you can do, begin it. Boldness has genius, power, and magic in it.” – Goethe A couple of years ago I went to an art panel on Feminist art at the LA Art Show. The discussion was circling around Womenhouse and The Los Angeles Women’s building of the 1970s. These were places woman artists gathered to collaborate, communicate, support, encourage and exchange ideas. These were amazing communities that I would have been proud to be part of if I had be

    Clowning around!!

    Clowning around!!

My best friends in Second Life put together a party for a few of us who have our Rez birthday’s this month. We started out clowning around with toys, then the night quickly turned deadly when we decided to flash mob a few clubs. We had tons of fun despite the constant lag and crashing!! At one point we landed in a Columbian public hub. We took a wrong turn. But it was pretty cool. I was playing with a pogo ball and someone in Colombian (Spanish?) IM’d me asking me what it was

    Having a Second Skin…

    Having a Second Skin…

Last Saturday night I participated in a one night happening at a gallery in Los Angeles. It was a lot of fun. There were a lot of people wandering through my space and asking some really great, perceptive questions about my work and Second Life. I think I converted a few people! LOL I basically sat at my computer for 3 hours, hanging out with friends in Second Life. We went shopping, playing in my friend’s Alien Jungle, hanging out at my studio/home and went to a couple art g

    Be yourself!!

So I have gotten a lot of mixed reactions to my shaved head. Ok buzzed for all you pc people…LOL It’s been interesting to watch people look at me. Some are quiet and don’t say anything, while others ask why I did it. This  is what I tell them. I’m an artist and my work is about continuing the conversation on body image, media’s distortion of beauty and self confidence. Our hair holds such symbolism of our physical beauty. The media makes it seem negative if a woman shaves he

    New paintings!!

    New paintings!!

I will be bringing these paintings  into Second Life very soon!! Check out my newest paintings from the “Once upon a time series.” Inspired by street art, urban city lights, decay and the idea of ripping away layer upon layer of meaning/texture/emotions and still not being able to find the bottom. Sometimes you weren’t meant to. I realized the other day, unconsciously, these paintings are also inspired by speed and movement. My dad was a race car driver and passed away at the
