Face/Love is a documentary self-portrait photographic series taken during a series of artist residencies in 2022. Playing with different times of day, I wanted to see myself in a different light. I believe in the importance (and power) of repetition to emphasize, persuade and challenge. Seeing myself over and over and over again through photos has helped me to look at myself differently, see patterns and imperfections, see beauty through the art of the body and learn acceptance. Through my art, I have faced head-on a lifelong fear of having my photo taken. I have always hated photos of myself. I take back control by shooting selfies that show my crossed/lazy eyes, large nose, double chin, wart, wrinkles and all.
